 What We Believe

Discovery Church is a nondenominational neighborhood church born from the Baptist tradition. 

We believe in the triune God and in the authority of Scripture | 1 John 5:7

We believe in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus and that the cross enables mankind's reconciliation to God | Galatians 2:20, Col 2:14, 1 Peter 2:24

We believe that all people are God's beloved children and are therefore worthy of love and belonging just as they are | John 1:12; Genesis 1:27

We believe that when we discover God's love, we then respond by imitating the character of Jesus and following his teachings | Philippians 2:3-8

We believe in the elimination of suffering through Christ-like service and friendship | Micah 6:8; John 13:12-15

We believe that Jesus is the ultimate source of our identity, values, and purpose | 1 John 4:19 

We believe that the Holy Spirit works in and through us to participate in the Kingdom of God | Romans 8:26, 15:13 

We believe that art like music, theater, and painting is important to our spirituality | Colossians 3:16; Ephesians 5:19; Psalms 105:2

We believe that God values logic, reason, and intellectual integrity | John 18:37; 1 Corinthians 14:20
